Castle Entries expanding into Orlando
Castle Entries LLC, a distributor of Mexican-made wrought iron doors, gates and windows, will open a showroom in Orlando this summer.
Leon Alliston, owner of the Birmingham-based company, is spending $200,000 to build out space he has leased. Castle also has ornamental iron gates showrooms in Atlanta and Nashville. The company, which has franchises in Florida and Ohio, recently added distributors in Phoenix, San Diego, Oklahoma City, and in Maryland for wrought iron products.
"Orlando is just a phenomenal market," Alliston says. "Residential real estate prices went up 23 percent last year, and there's literally a waiting list for housing."
Business has been good all around, he says, noting that May sales were nearly $500,000, the same amount Castle sold in 2003. And, in the past week Castle closed on a $1.5 million, three-year deal to provide 250 ornamental gates to T.D. Desert Development LP, which is building an upscale golf community in La Quinta, Calif. Alliston says the iron clad deal has been nearly a year in the making.
In April, Castle was named one of the area's fastest growing companies by the Birmingham Business Journal, with a 107 percent jump in earnings in 2004 over 2003. Last year, Castle's earnings were $7.2 million.
Alliston founded Castle Entries in the back seat of his pickup truck, and incorporated in late 2002.
